The ceremonial aspect in the Traditional Eastern Martial Arts - Obřad v Tradičních Orientálních Bojových Uměních

This is an important moment in the Chinese Culture, because it means that the Student asks the Master to be accepted as inner Student, taking the Responsibility also for the preservation of the Art, which has been passed down through many generations before coming to us.

Of course for us, as western people, can seem a bit strange, but in the past these Arts and their Wisdom were taught to a closed circle of Warriors, even Rebels, so that it was really necessary to build the Relationship between the Master and the Students on importan moral values of Fidelity and Loyalty.

This is indeed part of the Chinese culture and tradition that I am trying to follow.

Toto je důležitý okamžik v čínské kultuře, protože znamená, že student prosí učitele, aby byl přijat jako interní student, přebírající tak odpovědnost za zachování umění, která se dědila z mnoha generací před námi.

Samozřejmě pro nás ze západu se to může zdát trochu divný, ale v minulosti se tato umění a jejich moudrost vyučovala  jen pro úzký okruh válečníků, včetně rebely, a proto bylo nutné vybudovat vztah mezi učitelem a studenty na důležité na morálních hodnotách, věrnosti a loajalitě.

Tohle je součást čínské kultury a tradice, které se snažím následovat.

Koncepce školy - The Concept of School - Il Concetto di Scuola

Milí studenti,

před pár dny jsem mluvil s přítelem o konceptu Školy, samozřejmě s odkazem na Bojová Umění, a uvědomil jsem si, že to, co považujeme za samozřejmé, ve skutečnosti nemusí být jasné tomu, kdo není součástí našeho světa. Tento rozhovor mi dal podnět k tomu, abych podpořil tento důležitý koncept, který je často podceňován.

Kdo zná svět tradičních orientálních bojových umění, dobře ví, že jsou spojeny s rodinným konceptem, kde jsou role ve Škole definovány známou rodinnou terminologií. Na tomto místě by bylo snadné změnit termín Školy za Rodinu. Uvnitř Rodiny bylo Umění vždy předáváno podobným způsobem jako to, co by mohlo být v módě u středověkých a renesančních italských obchodů, kde Cimabue vyučoval Giotta jako mistr svého žáka.

Dnes jsou kontakty s vlastním Mistrem, a to zejména v globalizovaném světě bojových umění, jistě vzácnější, ale koncept Školy určitě zůstal. Na východě, v tomto ohledu, se dokonce hovoří o přenesení od srdce k srdci nebo z těla na tělo.

Zejména v moderním světě, protože se výuka také stala prací, a to zejména pokud jde o šíření umění v různých meandrech planety, je vyžadován v porovnání s minulostí profesionální přístup k výuce, který byl dříve prováděn více neformálně, v malých skupinách.

Tato profesionalita je také k ochraně těch, kteří se musí učit, protože je to moderní svět, který vytváří toto oddělení a rozdílnost rolí, ve kterém je možné předávání poznatků.

Je zde důležité si uvědomit, že uvnitř školy kvalifikovaný Mistr nebo Učitel se neprezentují v jejich individualitě, a to je také důvod, proč nosí na sobě uniformu. Je pravda, že můžou představovat svým studentům inspiraci, ale jsou stále vazby v řetězci přenosu něčeho, co začal před nimi a co bude pokračovat i po nich.

Škola by neměla být Mistro-centrická (a tudíž stojí pouze na dovednostech Mistra obzvlášť obdarovaného od Boha bojovým uměním) a je to dobře, že ve škole více lidí může sdílet své znalosti a další žáci mohou těžit z různých vlivů, protože jestli je Umění stejné, liší se míra hloubky, kterou může dosáhnout každý Mistr, tak i odlišný je způsob, jak ho předat.

Prostředí školy je tudíž dynamické jako řeka (a tedy zároveň i motivující) a ne zatuchlé jako bažina, kde se praxe s tentýž kolegy stává paralizující rutinou.

Jedním z důsledků tohoto rozhovoru, jak jsem řekl, je použití jednotné uniformy, která obvykle identifikuje členy, na různých úrovních, z Rodiny, z nichž každý podporuje školu podle svých schopností, které nemusí být nezbytně ekonomické.
Ačkoli mnoho moderních systémů, původem typicky západním a vojenským, jsou jednoznačně nepříznivé k formalismu a východní tradici, pak oni sami využívají uniformy, gestikulace více či méně související s respektem, hierarchickými rozdíly (není divu, protože by to bylo normální i v reálné moderní armádě).

Budeme brát vážně armádu, kde se každý jedinec obléká sám svým způsobem a nemá etický kodex, který ho spojuje se svými kolegy? Budeme brát vážně fotbalový tým, kde každý člověk se obléká svým vlastním způsobem, s důrazem na sebe samotného a na úkor týmu a vlajky, za které hraje? Dokonce i mniši mají uniformu, bez ohledu na duchovní tradice, kam patří!
Je to pravda, zpátky k tradičním bojovým uměním, že někdo musel institucionalizoval jak vzdělávací programy z různých škol, tak kontakty s Mistry, kteří řídí školu možná na světovém stupni, což omezuje dvě věci byrokratickými problémy a zkouškami. 

Pro mě, pro nás, pro školu HKB, kontakt s Mistrem je stále magickým momentem jak z emocionálního hlediska, pro nadšení, které nám komunikuje takovou zkušenost, tak z technického vzdělávání.


S tímto duchem se odeberu v listopadu ke svého mistrovi, kde bude přítomný jak jeho mistr, Sukong Lin Xiang Fuk, tak i Mistr Mistra, GGM The Kang Hay, pravděpodobně v jeho prvním a jediném vystoupení v bojovém západním panorama, protože jeho záměrem je ukončit natrvalo vyučování veřejnosti.

Hi everybody,

some days ago I was speaking with a friend about the concept of School, obviously it was referred to the Martial Arts, and what I noticed is that something that for me is so obvious, it really isn't for those who are not part of this environment. This chat with my friend has inspired me to remark clearly some important and often underestimated concepts.

Those among you who know the Traditional Eastern Martial Arts world, know very well how these are linked to the concept of family, therefore the internal relationships between the members are defined by family terms. At this point it would be very easy to change the word School with the term Family. Within the Family, the Art has always been passed down in a way really similar to what could be in vogue in the Medieval and Renaissance Laboratories in Italy, where Cimabue taught Giotto in a relationship from Teacher to Disciple.

Nowadays the contacts with our Teacher, in this very modern global martial world, for sure are more rare, but the concept of School has been hold. In the Far East, they speak about Transmission of the Knowledge from Heart to Heart, from Body to Body.

In particular, in the modern era, since teaching has become also a work, even more when it's about spreading out any of these Arts through different places on the Planet, is required more than in the ancient times, a professional approach to teaching, which was previously conducted in a more informal way, within small groups.

This professionalism is also for the protection of the students, because it is the modern world which creates the separation and differences of individual roles, and within this separation of roles, a transmission of knowledge is possible.

It 'important here to understand that, within the School, the Master or the qualified Instructor don't show up in their individuality, and this is also why they are wearing a uniform. It 's true that they can be an inspiration to their students, but the teachers are always links in the chain of the transmission of something that started before them and will continue after them. 

A school should not be Master-centric (and therefore relying only on the skills of a Master with the Gift coming from the God of Martial Arts) and it's good that, within the School, more people can share their knowledge and more students can benefit from different influences, because if on one hand the art is the same, on the other hand different is the degree of depth that every Master or teacher can reach, as well as different is the way to pass this knowledge down.

So, the environment of the school is dynamic like a river (and hence motivating) and not stagnant like a swamp where the practice always with the same mates becomes a sort of paralyzing routine.

A consequence of this speech, as I said, is the use of a uniform in order to identify the members, at different levels, of a Family, where everyone supports the School according to his own possibilities, not necessarily the economic ones.

Although many modern systems, typically western and military Systems, are clearly adverse to the formalism and the Eastern Tradition, then they themselves make use of uniforms, a gesture more or less linked to the respect and hierarchical differences (not really a surprise, since it would be normal in a real modern army).

Would we take seriously an army where every individual is dressed in his own way and does not have a code of conduct that relates him with his colleagues? Would we take seriously a football-team where every person dresses in his own way, emphasizing himself at the expense of the team and the flag for which they play? Even the monks have a uniform, whatever spiritual Tradition they belong to! 

It 's true, going back to the topic of the Traditional Eastern Martial Arts, that someone has institutionalized both  the curricula of the various schools, and the contacts with the Masters who lead the school maybe at a global level, limiting the two things to bureaucracy and exams. 

For me, for us, the School HKB, the contact with the Master is still a magical moment both from an emotional standpoint - for the enthusiasm trasmitted from such an experience - and from the technical learning one.

With this Spirit, on November, I will go to my Master, and will be there also his Master, Sukong Lin Xiang Fuk, and the Master of his Master, GGM The Kang Hay, probably in his first and only appearance in the western martial landscape, since its intention is to retire permanently from the public Teaching.

Ciao a tutti,

qualche giorno fa parlavo con un amico del concetto di Scuola, ovviamente riferito alle Arti Marziali, e mi sono reso conto che qualcosa che io do per scontato, in realtà non è chiaro a chi non fa parte del nostro mondo. Questa chiacchierata è servita a darmi uno spunto per ribadire qualche concetto importante e spesso sottovalutato.

Chi conosce il mondo delle arti marziali orientali tradizionali sa bene che esse sono legate ad una concezione familiare, quindi i ruoli all’interno della Scuola sono definiti da una terminologia familiare. A questo punto sarebbe facile cambiare il termine Scuola con quello di Famiglia. All’interno della Famiglia l’Arte è stata sempre trasmessa in modo simile a quello che poteva essere in voga nelle Botteghe medioevali e rinascimentali italiane, dove Cimabue insegnava a Giotto da Maestro a Discepolo.

Oggi i contatti col proprio Maestro, specialmente in un mondo marziale globalizzato, sono senz’altro più rari, ma il concetto di Scuola è senz’altro rimasto. In Oriente, al riguardo, si parla di Trasmissione da Cuore a Cuore o da Corpo a Corpo.

In particolare, nel mondo moderno, poiché l’insegnamento è diventato anche un lavoro, specialmente quando si tratta di diffondere un’Arte nei vari meandri del Pianeta, è richiesta rispetto al passato una professionalità nell’approccio all’insegnamento che prima era condotto in maniera più informale, all’interno di piccolissimi gruppi. 

Questa professionalità è anche a tutela di coloro che debbono imparare, perché è il mondo moderno che crea quel distacco e differenza dei ruoli all’interno del quale una trasmissione di sapere è possibile.

E’ importante in questa sede notare che all’interno della Scuola il Maestro o l’Insegnante abilitato non si presentano nella loro individualità, ed è anche per questo che indossano una divisa. E’ vero che essi possono rappresentare per i propri studenti l’ispirazione, ma essi sono sempre gli anelli della catena della trasmissione di qualcosa che è iniziato prima di loro e che continuerà dopo di loro.

Una Scuola non deve essere Maestro-centrica (e quindi reggersi solo sulle abilità di un Maestro particolarmente dotato dal Dio delle Arti Marziali) ed è bene che all’interno della Scuola più persone possano condividere il proprio sapere e più allievi possano beneficiare di influenze diverse, perché se l’Arte è la stessa, diverso è il grado di profondità che ogni Maestro può raggiungere, come diverso è anche il modo di trasmetterla.

L’ambiente della Scuola è quindi dinamico come un fiume (e quindi anche motivante) e non stantio come una palude dove la pratica coi medesimi compagni diviene usa sorta di routine paralizzante.

Una conseguenza di questo discorso, come dicevo, è l’uso di una divisa che di solito identifica i membri, a vario livello, di una Famiglia, ognuno dei quali sostiene la Scuola secondo le proprie possibilità, non necessariamente economiche.

Nonostante molti sistemi moderni, di origine in genere occidentale e militare, siano palesemente avversi al formalismo e alla tradizione orientale, essi stessi poi fanno uso di divise, di una gestualità più o meno collegata al rispetto, alla differenze gerarchiche (non dobbiamo sorprenderci, poiché sarebbe normale anche in un vero esercito moderno).

Prenderemmo sul serio un esercito dove ogni individuo si veste a modo suo e non abbia un codice di condotta che lo relaziona con i colleghi? Prenderemmo sul serio un team di football dove ogni persona si veste a modo suo, mettendo in risalto se stesso a discapito del team e della bandiera per cui giocano? Persino i monaci hanno una divisa, qualsiasi sia la Tradizione spirituale cui appartengono!

E’ vero, tornando alle Arti Marziali Tradizionali Orientali, che qualcuno ha istituzionalizzato sia i programmi didattici delle varie Scuole, sia i contatti coi Maestri che reggono la Scuola magari a livello mondiale, limitando le due cose a questioni burocratiche e di esami. 

Per me, per noi della Scuola HKB, il contatto col Maestro è ancora un momento magico sia dal punto di vista emotivo, per l’entusiasmo che ci comunica una tale esperienza, che da quello dell’apprendimento tecnico.

Con questo Spirito mi recherò a Novembre dal mio Maestro, dove sarà presente anche il suo Maestro, Sukong Lin Xiang Fuk, sia il Maestro del Maestro, GGM The Kang Hay, nella sua probabilmente prima ed unica apparizione nel panorama marziale occidentale, poiché la sua intenzione è di ritirarsi definitivamente dall’Insegnamento pubblico.
